OUR PROCESS

Here at Upper West Jigs, we pride ourselves on creating the highest quality jigs, at a very affordable price. Each jig is made from scratch, so that we can guarantee you are fishing with our best work.

We start by pouring our own jigs, one hook at a time to ensure we are getting the best quality and a full round head. Next, we clean our jig heads and powder coat them. Before curing, we clean out the jig head eye to give the fisherman a clean tying surface. After the curing process, we are ready to tie our jigs. Our twitching jigs are tied on a 4/0 Mustad 2x strong round bend jig hook for the 1/2oz and on a 4/0 Gamakatsu heavy wire jig hook for the 3/8oz.   These hooks provide plenty of strength and durability to fight those fall chinook and silvers. Our 3/4oz and 1oz jig hooks are poured on an “arrowhead” mold. We feel like the arrowhead style will give the least amount of resistance when you are fishing those deep pockets of water. The 3/4oz are poured on the 4/0 Mustad 2x strong round bend jig hook and the 1oz are poured on the 5/0 Mustad 2x strong round bend jig hook.

We offer plenty of options for our steelhead customers. Our steelhead jigs range from 1/4oz, 1/8oz, 1/16oz and finally 1/32oz. Our steelhead jigs are tied on a 1/0 Gamakatsu heavy wire, round bend hook for the 1/4oz jig and on a size 1 Gamakatsu heavy wire hook for our 1/8oz jigs. The 1/16oz and 1/32oz steelhead jigs are tied on a size 2 Gamakatsu heavy wire jig hook. These hooks are some of the sharpest on the market and when that steelhead or salmon grabs a hold of the jig, it has no choice but to hold on for the ride!

We use high quality tying materials as well as quality marabou, schlappen and hackle feathers to create our unique jigs. We blend our materials to come up with unique patterns that you will rarely find anywhere else. Blending different materials will also give you that unique action that only the fish will see. When you use Upper West Jigs, the fisherman next to you will be left scratching their head, as you fight fish after fish.
